Herringbone pattern porcelain tile installation in the main living areas and bathrooms of a Richardson home, replacing worn carpet and vinyl.
The Challenge
The homeowners were tired of maintaining carpet in a household with kids and pets. The bathroom vinyl flooring was peeling. They wanted a unified, durable tile floor throughout the main living spaces.
Work Performed
- Removed existing carpet, pad, and vinyl flooring
- Prepared concrete slab with grinding and leveling compound
- Applied crack isolation membrane over existing cracks
- Laid out herringbone pattern with dry fit before installation
- Set all tiles using large format mortar and leveling system
- Grouted with sanded grout and sealed
- Installed new baseboards throughout
- Transitioned tile to existing flooring at bedroom doors

- 6x24 warm gray porcelain plank tile
- Mapei large format thin-set mortar
- Raimondi tile leveling system
- Prism sanded grout in Delorean Gray
- StoneTech grout sealer
- Custom-milled white MDF baseboards
The Result
Over 800 square feet of herringbone tile transformed the entire home. The warm gray tone works perfectly with the existing decor. The floors are durable, easy to clean, and the herringbone pattern adds character to every room.
