A one-of-a-kind spa-inspired shower remodel featuring custom wood slat wall and ceiling panels, teak shower floor, LED-lit niche, gold brass fixtures, and decorative hexagonal tile accents.
The Challenge
The homeowners wanted to create a truly unique spa experience at home. Their existing shower was a standard fiberglass insert with basic chrome fixtures -- functional but uninspiring. They dreamed of something that felt like a high-end resort.
Work Performed
- Removed existing fiberglass shower insert
- Framed new shower area with waterproof backer board
- Installed full Schluter waterproofing membrane system
- Custom-built and installed wood slat wall panels with waterproof backing
- Extended wood slat panels across shower ceiling
- Built custom teak slatted shower floor with hidden drain
- Set large format marble-look porcelain tile on adjacent walls and floor
- Installed built-in niche with LED accent lighting
- Installed decorative blue hexagonal floral accent tile around niche
- Mounted ceiling-mount rain showerhead with gold brass finish
- Installed gold brass trim, fixtures, and glass enclosure hardware
